Cool Summer Sandwich Creations.
 
 
 
 
 
 
 

(All ingredients listed in large bold text are available in most if not all of HAFM's markets,
with the exception of Gouda cheeses and olive oil, which are available only in our Long Beach Southeast market)



"Sandwich" 1 (a Wrap):
Stuffed burrito on a plate.
Ingredients: 1 burrito-sized flour tortilla, spread with about 2 tablespoons of Claudiacaliente™'s Guacamole, sprinkled with shredded Gouda cheese, a liberal amount of Claudiacaliente™'s Salsa Fresca™, 2 leaves romaine lettuce, some finely diced black olives, salt and pepper to taste.


Sandwich 2:
Sandwich on plate.
Ingredients: 2 slices cracked wheat & honey bread, tzatziki dip to spread on both slices of bread (whipped cream cheese could be substituted), 1/4 thinly sliced avocado, 3 thin slices of red onion, 12 to 15 cucumber rounds, alfalfa and broccoli sprouts, raisins to cover one slice of bread, salt to taste.


Sandwich 3:
Sandwich on plate.
Ingredients: 2 slices Squaw bread, cashew butter, fresh soft figs (washed and halved or scooped/mashed), buckwheat and sunflower sprouts.


Sandwich 4:
Sandwich on a plate.
Ingredients: 2 slices toasted sourdough bread, and a combination of sliced nappa cabbage (green cabbage could be substituted), 1/4 sliced green bell pepper, 10 to 12 slices of julienned daikon, 2 slices (about 1/4" thick) sweet yellow onion.
Prep: stir-fry the vegetables in a small amount of olive oil, season with salt and pepper; prepare the bread by pouring about 1 Tbsp of olive oil evenly on one slice, and on that slice also sprinkle chopped dill; stack with 3 or 4 slices of smoked turkey breast and the stir-fried vegetables; sprinkle liberally with balsamic vinegar and top with the second slice of bread.


Sandwich 5:
Sandwich on plate.
Ingredients: pita bread, spread insides with red pepper hummus, then fill with: scrambled egg, lightly sautéed fresh young asparagus cut to fit the sandwich, thinly sliced smoked gouda cheese, sliced tomato, salt and pepper to taste.
